Hi, I’m Tammy. I’m a qualified engineer and teacher but my most challenging and rewarding job is being a mother of three boys with additional needs. I have years of experience on both sides of education. I have been the teacher desperately trying to meet the needs of all 28-35 very diverse students in my class and also been the parent advocate asking the teacher why they’re not meeting the needs of my child.
My children are aged 8 to 18 and I have taught from preschool to year 12 so I have a lot of knowledge and experience to share. Having this experience on both sides of education has given me great insight into how to work with students, parents, teachers and a range of school systems to meet the needs of individuals.
I understand that, as much as we’d all like it to be easy…sometimes it just isn’t! I am able to work with families to identify the best way to move forward and help children and young people develop into the best people they can be. I am able to provide a range of support services to families who feel that their child isn’t getting the support services they need. I can also provide support around the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
I love to support people to learn by doing. Whether that means doing physical activity while learning or physically making things or moving things or finding out how a particular skill is used out in the real world. I’m all about teaching people practical things in practical ways. Oh, and another thing, I love what I do. I love playing and I love learning and I love helping people to be the best they can be!
